I don’t want to get all philosophical about religion or anything but I really think there are 2 options that branch out into infinite possibilities (due to human nature and the universal repellant of simplicity). The 2 options are
•we are some higher power’s biology experiment whether that power is god or an unknown force or something like in divergent (a great book you should read but that’s not the point at all)
•science really did just randomly happen perfectly. If there’s a billion billion billion billion billion billion (etc etc etc) universes in a giant multiverse then this is a ton more likely than if we’re the only universe. I personally don’t think this is it.
Believe me I’m an atheist just a special type because A) I’m waaaaayy to lazy to come up with my own religion and B) I can’t find a religion someone else has that accurately displays my thoughts. To a certain extent your religion is a reflection of who you are. Your god (or goddess or gods) follows your rules, not the other way around. But to have a religion to reflect yourself there has to be a religion existing upon which you can project your thoughts and feelings. I’ve been thinking a lot on these types of things recently (which is rediculous, I’m 13) and I really think you have to observe all of what you want in your life before you can make a clear decision (which I haven’t nearly done). I do however think that trying to understand or believe in a large, somewhat commercialized religion for at least part of your life is a good thing to do, whether you do so when you’re a little kid or in your 50’s.
Wow I guess I did get a bit philosophical. Whoops?
Sorry this is so long. I was on my phone thinking about percabeth when this popped in my head.
